Cooly Rocks On 2021
When: June 9 – June 13
Where: Coolangatta
Right around the corner, Cooly Rocks On Festival 2021 is your real-life throwback to the glorious 50s, 60s and 70s: a 5-day festival celebrating rockabilly, swing and everything vintage and retro for baby boomers and modern-day old souls.
The nostalgia-packed program includes live bands on stage, retro pageants, twist and jive dance-offs, vintage markets, a beachside display of over 900 classic cars, Indian motorcycles and lots more. The best thing? It’s free to attend.
Gold Coast Australian Open Bowls 2021
When: June 12 – June 25
Where: Host Gold Coast Bowls Clubs
Top Gold Coast bowls clubs up and down the coastline will once again host the Australian Open Bowls – Australia’s biggest and richest lawn bowls competition.
The main format will feature Singles, Pairs and Fours in knockout rounds held daily, boasting an overall prize purse of $275,000. Bowls players and bowls fans alike won’t want to miss this thrilling two-week championship.
Gold Coast Marathon 2021 – Update: EVENT CANCELLED
When: July 3 – July 4
Where: Broadwater Parklands – Burleigh Heads
Ran during a lockdown? It’s time to test your newfound stamina at this year’s Gold Coast Marathon, offering a range of distances from Junior Dash Runs and 5km Fun Runs to the Half Marathon and 42km Village Roadshow Gold Coast Marathon.
The flat Gold Coast offers perfect running conditions – plus a backdrop of the region’s most stunning beaches. Cheer on or register by June to take part.
Kirra Longboard Klassic 2021
When: July 10 – July 11
Where: Kirra Beach
Back for its highly anticipated second event, Kirra Longboard Klassic is a free longboard showcase on iconic Kirra Beach for both longboarders and longboarding fans.
It’s just for fun (no competition involved) and this year it’s been extended to two whole days. Hop on your longboard and join in or kick back and spectate the action from the beachside.
Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge
When: July 17 – July 18
Where: Firth Park Mudgeeraba
Kokoda Challenge Gold Coast is an event for long-distance hikers looking to test their limits. Inspired by the famous Papua New Guinea Kokoda Track, this cross country trek is as iconic as it is challenging, signifying mateship (group participation encouraged) as well as endurance.
The main trail measures 96km with a completion time of 39 hours. If it’s your first time, there are also 48km and 17km trails – all held over one weekend.
BLEACH Festival Gold Coast
When: August 12 – August 22
Where: Burleigh Heads Beach
Here’s another free beachside festival to get excited for – BLEACH is back and already gearing up for another 11-day program featuring live music, dance, theatre, circus, live performance art, workshops, special guest talks and more.
BLEACH Festival, held annually, celebrates and showcases heritage, expression and budding regional performers, offering both free and ticketed performances for all ages and tastes.
Gold Coast Show 2021
When: August 27 – August 29
Where: Southport Broadwater Parklands
Want to experience what the Gold Coast is all about? Then don’t miss Gold Coast Show 2021: a three-day celebration of performance, agriculture, food, local businesses and lots more.
The program includes live entertainment, kids rides, local food, market stalls, animal enclosures, dog shows, equestrian shows, hands-on activities and even an explosive fireworks display. It’s free, and this year it celebrates 114 years.
